Baptist Church Ladies Peanut Butter Squares

Baptist Church Ladies Peanut Butter Squares

We call this recipe the Baptist Church Ladies Peanut Butter Squares because they were the ones who popularized this recipe.  It is usually served after church during coffee hour.   Every time there is a craft and bake fundraiser sale, the church ladies will present their signature dessert,  the peanut butter marshmallow squares or better known as Peanut Butter Squares.  I could easily remove the name Baptist Church Ladies from the recipe, but since they were the ones who I learned it from, I thought I should give them some credit.

My Aunt who used to run the Black Cat Ranch in Hinton, Alberta  wrote a recipe book, and this  is one of the many great recipes she treasures.   It is a very easy recipe to make, and the peanut butter marshmallows combination gives the dessert a very nice texture, smooth to the tongue.

Basically, there are four ingredients:
– Butter
– Peanut Butter
– Butterscotch chips
– Miniature marshmallows

Peanut Butter and Marshmallows are great ingredients and there are many wonderful dessert recipes made with them.  What’s even better is that they are gluten free.

If you are considering another comfort food dessert that can be served during church coffee hours, consider another one of our favourite, tse Grace Harbour Apple Cobbler named after Grace Harbour, in Desolation Sound, made with apples from the wild apple orchard.

  • You can have many variations to this recipe:
    (1) Use colored marshmallows (2) Add Coconut flakes (3) Add chocolate icing. Enjoy! I tried this recipe and I love it.

  • This is one of my favorite desserts anytime. Especially so during the holidays. Using pecans with or without the marshmallows is a great twist.

    Be blessed!
